Singer. Songwriter. Producer
Origin | Singer:
Originally from New Hampshire and raised in the Bay Area, AriA has been surrounded by music her entire life. Her father was a prominent influence on her early love for music, being a classically trained pianist with a wide array of musical taste. As an often shy and soft spoken young girl, AriA used singing to express herself in a way that speaking never could. Singing was freedom. She came to Los Angeles with wide-eyed ambition to expand that freedom and become a professional recording artist.
Origin | Songwriter:
While working as an intern for a North Hollywood recording studio, AriA was given a custom beat and was asked to write a song to it for the first time. Having written poetry her entire life, she soon realized that poetry was simply songwriting without structure. Later, while interning for another LA studio for a local music collective, one of her jobs was to transcribe lyrics from their songs; it was this tedious and repetitious process that introduced her to song structure, fusing her free-flowing process with a framework that refined her writing approach.
Origin | Producer:
Once she experienced the ability to express her own stories, the missing piece became the sounds that she envisioned accompanying those stories. Seeing no way around the challenge of finding a producer that could create the sounds that played in her head, she made the bold choice to teach herself music production less than 1 year ago to deliver her true sound.
Present day, AriA approaches music without limitation. Because of the organic nature by which she came to understand sound and not being beholden to any preconceived notions of what “should be”, The end result is music that is almost beyond classification. Rather than one style, her music is more of a celebratory aggregation of the best sounds she has experienced.
12 Minutes
Each year of life, we are granted 525,600 minutes to do or be what we choose; this past year, I chose to spend those 525,600 precious minutes creating a 12 minute collective tale of determination, regret, reclamation and freedom from key moments of my life.
I have been on the roller coaster ride that is the music industry. I’ve turned away offers that locked me in a creative box, fought off wolves and left situations that bent me in the wrong direction. I have even put down the microphone, unsure of when (or whether) I would pick it back up again. But at the end of the day, singing, creating and sharing music is a magnet to everything I seek to do or be.
This project is my reintroduction, bringing forward all that I have learned since rejecting popular convention and letting the sounds in my head out of the dark and into the light.
I hope you enjoy the ride. This is my RISE.
